Sasquatch Hunting in Cook’s Forest in the Allegheny National Forest sounded fun to me. After reading about the sightings in the forest in Sunday’s Erie Times News, I thought I’d scope it out. .. maybe get that million dollar picture. But as with the lottery, we came up short. Of course we’d probably do a lot better if we actually believed there was such a thing or if we ever actually played the lottery. :-)
We really went down there to scope out cabins for the winter and to see if we could capture some wildlife on video. And there she was, a beautiful doe standing out in the middle of a green field with gorgeous autumn leaves all around her. She moved ever closer, gracefully showing herself off in front of the camcorder and I thought I had the best deer footage ever. That is until the next time I tried to record something and realized the camera was still recording. Huh? I know I shut it off. That meant I didn’t have it on when the deer was moving and turned it on when I thought I was turning it off (which turned out to be the case.) So I have about 20 minutes of me gabbing away in the car and the whole time with a picture of my purse and foot. Wouldn’t that have been my luck had I had Bigfoot walk in front of me?
We didn’t hike much, mostly enjoyed the beautiful foliage from the car that is just about on its last legs (the foliage, not the car.) There were some areas that the trees were practically bare and others were just past peak.We drove all over the forest and ended up having dinner in Marienville, PA. The food was good, the people very friendly.
There is something special about being out in the woods. We both are just so happy and relaxed and laugh a lot. But at day’s end we drive back into Erie, down Peach Street, and the whole day kind of fizzles away in a traffic jam. Till next time.

Bigfoot would be a good Halloween costume! Love those small restaurants too.

It may be dangerous to go as Bigfoot. You wouldn’t want to be a trophy on someone’s wall, ha. Some of those little out-of-the-way restaurants in the middle of nowhere hasn’t gotten the word about saturated fats. That’s why their food tastes so good. :-) Though the food was very low fat (what I ordered) at this one.
