Day-trip

November 26th, 2007 · 3 Comments

I saw an antique print in a beautiful picture frame at an antique shop in Cambridge Springs a week ago and decided to think about it first before buying it. I decided I really wanted it so we headed south yesterday. I have it apart to clean the glass and to glue up any loose joints. I can’t wait to finish waxing it and getting it back together so I can hang it up.

After leaving Cambridge Springs we headed out to the Erie National Wildlife Refuge to see if the eagles were gone and to see the changes from the weather. The leaves are all gone, and it seems so are the eagles. We didn’t see much wildlife at all. The Canada Geese were still around in huge numbers. We saw around 20 Red-tailed Hawks near the refuge at a pheasant farm. The pheasants were all gone but the hawks were perched and flying all over. There is probably lots of mice, voles or such trying to eat any leftover grain from the pheasants rearing.

I’m eager to see the refuge in the spring with all the birds nesting and other wildlife having their young.

Love the photo with the hawks at the pheasant farm! Never been to Erie NWR!

Cool! Glad the frame was still there. Looks like you have a snowy week ahead of you.
