We visited the Erie Estate Buyers store last Saturday for their 30% off sale and Wow!! you should have seen all the people there. This was a first-class affair with food and drink that was amazing! But I wasn’t much interested in that (which isn’t normal) as much as the “arts and crafts”-era sideboard that was on the 3rd story of the store. It was just a perfect fit for our dining room, it was in good shape and I just fell in love with it. Most of the antique sideboards we come across are veneered and I wanted a solid oak one with a fumed oak color and this one had that. And it was 30% off! Needless to say, it’s now ours. I can now put my good china in it and open up room in my kitchen cabinets.
The last time we were in Cambridge Springs at the antique/junk shop I came across a really ugly item. I mentioned to my husband that it would win the ugliest-gift contest that his family used to have in addition to the regular, extended-family festivities at Christmas. It was a fun game. We found out last week that they were going to have it again. So Sunday we headed back to Cambridge Springs to the antique/junk shop. The price was right for this ugly item (cheap, of course) and we bought it. I’ll let you know if we win the game and post the picture of our item. (it’s ugly!)

Where around Erie are you? For 18 years I was on the Canadian side, in the Niagara Region. These days I’m in the deep South of the US, where I never have to deal w/lake effect snow again (although I do miss my old hangout, Cedar Bay.)
