So far the incompatible devices (a new one added today) I can’t use with my new computer with Vista is follows:
-
Sony Handycam miniDV DCR-TRV8 The Belkin USB device that must be used capture doesn’t work with Vista, no update available. I have to record from my camcorder straight into a stand-alone DVD burner and then play the burned DVD and capture it with my DVD XPlayer program, that has that function, to be able to use and edit any of the recordings from my camera.
HP All-In-One 5510 printer/flatbed scanner/copier/fax. Kinda works for printing plain draft pages when used with Vista. Other times it prints like your are seeing double. No update available for Vista. Windows Vista won’t let the software be installed on Vista. You go to the HP site and they tell you there aren’t any updates and to buy a new one. There is no way to use the fax or scanner without the software to set it up.

Picture It 2002- software program made by Microsoft. (This was a really great program that was so easy to use.) No update available to make it work with Vista. You are just plain outta luck.
AND NOW THIS!
Now, after way over an hour-long session with HP (my computer’s maker) the reason my screen saver won’t work on my brand new computer with Vista is because of my wireless mouse. It works with the wired mouse that comes with the computer but not my wireless one. There is a large list of wireless mice that don’t work with Vista without “the fix.” Microsoft gives an update to make it work. The HP guy (using the computer’s on-screen take-over) installed the update. Doesn’t work. We finally had to give up. As long as my Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000 is hooked up, the screen saver won’t come on. I mean really, now, did I expect to have my cake and eat it too?? How naive of me to think my wireless laser mouse could possibly work with a new computer.
You buy a new computer to enjoy the great new functionality (the media center is really awesome.) But it has turned into one big headache.
I haven’t tried syncing my mp3 players yet. I have a bad feeling with the way things have been going.

I am wondering what I will do when my XP needs to be replaced. I don’t think I want Vista after reading your problems.

I don’t know if I have seen any new computers with XP on it in stores anymore. I know you can have them built and loaded with whatever you want. I guess eventually all these things would eventually need replacing but Microsoft should have provided support instead of just saying there’s nothing you can do about it.

Linda what a shame there are not any up dates for Vista. Must be Microsoft makes it to difficult for companies to update their drivers and software.
