I just noticed a couple of days ago that the camera I had for only 5 days was malfunctioning. I didn’t even know it. There was no sound, it never had sound. I thought I was reading the instructions wrong and couldn’t figure out how to make the slideshow (with music) to work properly while watching it on the camera. The video had no sound either. The volume was turned all the way up, the shutter beep turned to “on.” But I didn’t notice there wasn’t sound before because I just transferred it to the computer and the sound worked there.
So what to do? The box my camera came in specifically stated NOT to return it to the store. They couldn’t be any plainer! So I contacted Sony support at the website they had on the box. In the email I explained the symptoms of the problem and what I should do about it (being I can’t return it to the store.)

I’m still waiting for an answer from them. I had visions of me having to send the camera back to the Sony repair shop. How long was I going to be without my camera? 6 weeks? I don’t know. I want it for my vacation, that’s a big reason I bought it. I was stressing.
Forget that. I am a rule follower normally but I disobeyed the instructions on the box. I called Circuit City this morning and told them my camera didn’t work. She said bring it back, they’d give me another. 1/2 hour later, I had a new camera that worked, with all the bells and whistles and shutter beeps… and slideshow music. Some how I don’t feel guilty about breaking Sony’s rules.

No way! I would have brought it back to the store too. When is your Minnesota trip?

I can’t find a link to an email address for you on your blog site. Would you email me- I’d like to swap info on your vacation, to see if maybe you’d be able to stop at Hasty Brook if you go to Duluth and the North Shore.
