I have often wondered why I never see any baby pigeons or doves or Downy Woodpeckers. I see the adults but not the babies. I see fledgling robins, starlings and finches all being fed by their parents at the feeders. I wonder why the others don’t bring their young in to be fed.
Today I got a surprise. I saw a Downy Woodpecker feeding a young one in our pear tree. Yeah!

The garden is doing good this year. The flowers all started blooming at once.

Great photos. Beautiful garden. This year has been spectacular for color has it not?

Pretty gardens!
Is that a solar powered fountain/bird bath?

Not solar powered. There is an outdoor cord running under the red mulch and under our deck to a GFI outlet box on the corner of our deck. The fountain is low on water in the picture (and I should have cleaned it better before taking a picture, too) and that is a little sparrow trying to reach the water coming out of the top (in case you thought that was a solar panel?) I have a spaghetti drip line slowly dripping water into the fountain on the backside but haven’t found the perfect adjustment on the inline adjustment knob to keep it filled but not to drip over too fast. I’m still making adjustments on that part.

Sweet little downies!! Aren’t they cute (& usually pretty cooperative). I had a downy baby, hairy baby and a red-bellied baby all at one time on my suet feeders!! I’ll post some shots soon.

Hi Linda!!! your garden looks lovely!!
Yesterday we had Baltimore Orioles feeding their young at my feeders. Exciting time of year with the fledglings. Great shot of the Downy’s.

Your post made me feel like I was sitting in a chair under a tree enjoying the birds and your lovely flowers. Thanks!

I am stopping by from Lynne’s At Hasty Brook (having been a long time reader of her blog).
WOW–your garden is lovely.
Love the baby downy.
We had a mourning dove nest in our front arbor vita tree this year–so I got to see the baby doves. Just balls of fluff, to tell the truth.
